Yeah, ever since my brother convinced me to watch Doctor Who, I've been pretty obsessed with it. I've watched every episode I could find, at my library, on Netflix, and occasionally on less-than-reputable video streaming sites. I've even written a few songs based on the TV show. Two of which are parodies of Simon & Garfunkel songs. If I were any good at the digital arts, I would probably do lots of DW stuff. So if you're a fan of Doctor Who, leave a comment! Tell me what your favorite episode is, or your favorite Doctor, or your favorite episode from the classic series (Mine is Day of the Daleks, from 1972), or just confirm that you also love the show. If you'd like to see some of the songs I wrote, let me know and I'll post them.
Ah, Wintertime...
Yes, technically winter doesn't officially start until the 21st. However, it does tend to start getting much colder before that date. When the high temperature is below 35 Fahrenheit, I say it's winter. But I digress. I love winter because, at least around Washington, the skies clear up and you can see for miles. It's the best time to photograph mountains, because you can see a lot more of them, and most of them get at least a little snow. I thrive in cold weather. I enjoy snow, although it rarely lasts more than a week here. Time to break out the heavy coats, hot cider, and gloves! Hope everyone has a lovely holiday season!
...It's JULY already?
Yeah, so it looks like the last time I updated my journal was in March. Lots of cool stuff has happened since then. For instance, about 3 weeks ago, I visited California for a week. I got to see (and photograph) some cool stuff. I'm sure other things have happened between now and then, but I don't really remember. I really ought to check in on dA more often.
The Best Way to Learn is to Do It Yourself.
Yesterday, I took out my biggest lens (Vemar 400mm f/6.3) and DSLR for some sunny day shooting. As is probably common when getting to know a certain lens, the first batch of photos came out pretty bad. Either they were underexposed and too dark to make out, or overexposed and too bright to work with. But once I got a feel for the aperture settings, it was a lot easier (and faster) to set up and take a photo. The biggest thing that I learned was the importance of aperture priority shooting. Before, I had set the camera on "easy mode" and shot away. But with a huge manual lens that wasn't meant for my camera, that's a no-go. Because it was quit
Been a While...
So I went to post some photos today and realized I hadn't done much of anything on dA since September. I've been keeping pretty busy the past month. Got a new job, for one thing. That has helped me to start affording more camera stuff. I've done a lot of collecting, but not too much shooting lately. But autumn and winter in Washington don't offer too many opportunities for photography anyway, what with all the rain. Maybe I'll get a few more good shots this year, but not as much as I do in spring and summer. While I'm posting this journal, I might as well ask: Any good ideas for calendars for next year? I was thinking maybe one on lakes and r

DOCTOR WHO RULES !!
My earliest memories of Doctor Who date back to the early 1990's when I was 4 years old when the series sadly ended originally in 1989.
I owned these 7 stories on VHS Video at the time which got me into Doctor Who. 4 Jon Pertwee's, 2 Tom Bakers, and 1 Peter Davison.
Day of the Daleks
The Curse of Peladon
Planet of the Daleks
The Green Death
Revenge of the Cybermen
Pyramids of Mars
Resurrection of the Daleks
Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning as the 3rd Doctor and Jo Grant are my all time favorite Doctor and Companion, but if anyone was ask me who my favorite new series Doctor and companion is, it would be the 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler.
